FLEDGLINGS UK 2009
 
WELCOME to an exciting unaffiliated
Dressage Group especially for younger riders who are just starting out
with their dressage training.

AGES
Anyone from the age of 6 years to 12 years can join Fledglings
UK. Riders from 11/12 years are encouraged to join Dressage U21s
UK. Fledglings UK give all riders an equal opportunity
to progress as far as they wish to go, always within their own ability
and that of their ponies.
Later you will join a FLEDGLING SQUAD - progressive for everyone.
Birthdays are taken from the 1st of January. Fledglings
2009 will have been born in 1997 or after.
MEMBERSHIP FEES 2009
£35.00 per annum for insurance cover, plus 6 SAEs.
Fledglings UK are covered for all Training & Competitions.
Please make cheques payable to Dressage U21s UK We will send you news
and information about our groups, which have spread nationally. Each member
should have some input into the scheme, and accept the importance of commitment.
Mums are very valuable and are sometimes asked to help at training!
TRAINERS
used for Fledglings UK hold
a current Insurance Policy, and most are registered on the BDTDB or the
Register of BHS Instructors. Many have competed to Medium, or a much higher
level and are used to working with younger children. We try to ensure
that all venues and facilities used for the Training of Fledglings
UK are suitable.
INSURANCE COVER
is with Shearwater Insurance Brokers.
COMPETITIONS.
It quite an important part of the Dressage Group to have fairly regular
friendly competitions amongst each other, and even adjoining groups. These
competitions are usually Preliminary and Novice, and we have also developed
some easy walk and trot tests for very little competitors Fledglings
1A and 2A.

riders from all over the country competed at this exciting two day festival.
Unaffiliated dressage tests for Fledglings
from Preliminary to Elementary all with really exciting Challenge Championships.
ASSESMENT-VIEWING DAYS were
held in September, at Unicorn Trust. We assessed the Fledglings
and put several into their 2008 Squads. We do encourage Fledglings
of all levels to go to Regional Training. If you would like to find out

The Fledglings Novice Class in 2008 was won by Pheobe Peters riding Beau Supreme

Fledgling Open Class was of a very high standard this
year with 11 year old FERN ROACH riding THOMAS from Northampton
coming out well on top.

in Yorkshire riding her `borrowed` Highland Pony QUEST.

The Sheila Spencer Scholarship amd Imogen
Memorial Trophy 2008 for potential was awarded to Fledgling FERN ROACH, from Northants. They
had training assessments and test riding in two age groups.
The Imogen Memorial Cup was won in 2007 by 11 year old Lucy Pincus from Hereford.

In 2005 this was won by Beth
Day riding Godsfield Superstar from Nottingham, who is trained
by her father Andrew Day.This year Beth

2009
U21`s WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS
2008 Addington Manor 15th March.
To Qualify - Fledgling Riders will need to score 63%
in 2 Preliminary or 2 Novice Tests, at any open show held between 1st
September 2006 and 10th February 2007. Just keep your sheets, photocopy
them and send them with your entries. Schedules are out now.
REGIONAL TRAINING

for your area - you will see who organises activies in your area. Programme
details, which are not yet all ready - but some of these can be found

PONIES
ridden by Fledgling riders at training sessions and at
all competitions must be 5 years of age or
over, and safe to be ridden amongst other ponies. Please do not apply
with ponies under this age.
